Dentist...
Morgan had a checkup with his dentist before leaving this summer. He had about eight baby teeth that had not fallen out and the adult teeth were trying to come in. His dentist recommended surgery to remove the baby teeth and make some room in his mouth. Unfortunately we didn't have time to get him in for surgery before he left...and when he came back we were in a flurry of getting back into the school routine. He started complaining about his mouth about mid September.
Upon inspection, he had a large hard bump on his lower jaw on the left. We took him back to the dentist to make sure he didn't have an infection. Happily he didn't, but the lump was his adult teeth trying to come out. Last Friday, he had the surgery to remove eight baby teeth..and four wisdom teeth. Poor kiddo...he was so excited for the surgery so his mouth would stop hurting.
He was, however, worried about when he would be able to eat after the surgery since he couldn't eat before. On the way home, still under the influence of anesthesia, he asked if he could have a Mighty Fine hamburger. We skipped the burger but did get him a milk shake. He was in so much pain by the time we got home...and his face was numb, which didn't help with eating a milk shake. I cleaned him up, gave him his pain meds, and snuggled with him on the couch...none of which he remembers. Thank goodness the pain meds helped him enough that he could sleep most of Friday. He was his usual bouncy self Saturday, but he didn't wan
t to trick or treat. He helped me pass out candy and tried to scare the trick or treaters that were out and about. Morgan didn't want to go to school today, but his swelling is down some and as long as he is getting his pain meds, he doesn't seem to be bothered by his mouth. So to school we went, where he proudly proclaimed to anyone who would listen that he had 12 teeth removed.
